A changed articulation theory on a similar need to peruse, Elephants are continuously turning into a jeopardized species, mankind need to spare them and stop their annihilation. The proposal articulation need just be a couple of sentences. It gives the topic of the paper and gives the situation of the author on the subject under contention or examination. The second significant hint is to search for a blueprint of taking a gander at the proof to be presented. The structure will help in the formation of the body of the paper, where all conceivable proof is given to demonstrate the postulation explanation. The procedure associated with making, creating, and detailing a theory involves developing a solid contention that is in accordance with the proof that will be introduced in the body of the paper. In shaping, the contention, one that will include perusing, writing down, and basic reasoning. It is imperative to initially think of a reason proclamation that quickly outlines the foundation, and possibly the historical backdrop of the topic. For instance, if a task requires a concise history of the Conservative party and its political impact in the nation since 1900, the reason articulation should target giving a short history and sketch of the gathering and approaches to which it affected political choices and strategies of the gathering and the nation on the loose. The reason articulation will limit the contention and fortify the principle thought of the paper. Subsequent to thinking of the reason explanation, the following stage is concocting the fundamental thought, a rundown of the whole article or paper that will after that offer method to planning a rundown of thoughts that might be remembered for the diary. Subsequent to thinking of a few thoughts, it is imperative to assemble them and have a connect to every one of the plans to the focal subject of the paper. Subsequent to having a focal thought connecting up all the thoughts of the subject, an equation can after that be applied to show up at a potential and lively contention or theory articulation. For instance, the accompanying proclamations can be utilized to connect at a solid speculation; Albeit most Republicans keep up thatthe nation appears to clutch the possibility of a Political unremarkableness is regularly an aftereffect of a more dividedbrought about by the absence of political will in applies and .to shows that The above procedure offers a structure for drafting the blueprint of a contention with the speculation, serving just as an arranging instrument. To keep the paper durable, it is imperative to peruse the proof and keep a peruser centered. The fundamental components that will shape the premise of the proposal are the end and the proof gave. By concentrating on the main issue and instance of the paper, the paper will give a superior refined proposal articulation. A task without a specific issue proclamation is testing and may require extra data to figure a proposal explanation. In any case, in such circumstance, as it is critical to plan the contention around the focal thought of the task. For this situation, the most significant thing is to get to the base of the task and think of a potential situation of a test or issue. Or on the other hand, approach the task from an answer point of view without thinking about the presence of a potential issue. Not all proposition proclamations require an issue to figure a contention articulation. A contention explanation can be created by adopting an alternate strategy or side of the given task. For instance, a task that depends on a situation wherein a character is required to offer direction on the progression of the article may call upon the author to put together the contention articulation with respect to a potential or elective position not taken by the character being referred to. At that point in the wake of taking an alternate situation from the character being referred to, it is conceivable to think of a theory explanation. The assignments gave in the class have been differing and wide based, extending from pugnacious papers to plain papers, expressive, and truth based articles. Most of the assignments have been issue situated significantly handling major financial and policy centered issues of the general public. For instance, the vast majority of the articles rotated around social issues influencing the general public all in all, for example, financial arrangements influencing the working class gathering, government approaches, for example, Medicare and instruction procedures. Also, a portion of the issue situated task ecological issues, for example, a dangerous atmospheric devation, answers for instructive assorted variety, and strict clashes. The task focused more on thinking of unmistakable explanations and potential answers for financial and policy driven issues influencing most of residents in the 21st century. The vast majority of the composing concentrated on discovering arrangements and giving top to bottom explanation on cultural issues, for example, weapon control, self destruction among young people, the impacts of the online networking, government arrangements, movement enactments, and vagrancy, notwithstanding lodging difficulties in urban focuses. Despite the fact that there isn't a lot of contrast in the issues took care of in the assignments, one viewpoint that stood apart was the examination associated with the whole exercise wherein the essential objective was to discover arrangements and explanation on a portion of the issues influencing the general public. Significantly, the greater part of the issues I handled will in general recognize, clarify, and do top to bottom examination into the issues. Throughout my scholarly vocation, while suggesting conceivable conversation starters behind a given issue, for example, weapon control or savagery among school going understudies, I tested the societys readiness in handling the propensity. Simultaneously distinguished a portion of the parts of the issue that has presented issues for the general public throughout the years. Directions introduced frequently will in general spotlight on the recognizable proof of the subject, examining the test, and taking a gander at how the network has reacted to it throughout the years. Sometimes, the directions endless supply of arrangements or potential techniques for dealing with the issues. My presentations first methodology task from the focal part of the thought introduced. For instance, a task requiring an investigation of the impacts of a Republican-overwhelmed Congress would initially harp on an even and adjusted House, in which the quantity of Republicans and Democrats are equivalent. From this point of view, it will be a lot simpler to build up a contention thinking about that I have at the top of the priority list, how a reasonable House would work and pass enactments. Or then again an alternate pugnacious task on the impact of instruction on utilization of prepared and quick nourishments. My way to deal with the paper would involve making sense of what is behind the handled and quick nourishments that call upon training. From this point of view, it is conceivable to plan and unite the three ideas; that is the instruction, purchasers, and the prepared or quick nourishments. The three ideas would shape my auxiliary part of the theory with a more noteworthy accent uation on assembling them to construct a contention on the connection between the three components. Section 2: Reflection It is fun and energizing to find that composing is roused by critical thinking capacities. In spite of the fact that the thought of placing thoughts into composing while simultaneously taking care of an issue sounds remote, it is significant that, an issue is a psyche trigger, an energizer in intuition, and a manner by which the brain is used to draw in with assembling words to shape an intelligible contention. The desire to discover an answer, the inspiration to build up a sensible speculation come out as one fascinating part of composing. It is no uncertainty that authors will in general spotlight on financial and political parts of the general public. Despite the fact that their methodology is just hypothetical, it is established on the capacity to make an interpretation of overpowering issues into issues that can be unraveled, and arrangements built up dependent on articulating thinking and definition of thoughts. It is additionally intriguing that connecting with the psyche cohe rently towards various situations, frames the foundation to thinking of a potential arrangement and methods of going around defining a solid contention. Furthermore, from the perusing, it is no uncertainty that issues structure some portion of each individual life and the general public in general. Building up an open methodology towards critical thinking establishes the premise of composing and is regularly the premise of each inclination to discover an answer for an issue. Then again, captivating in A contention and detailing a speculation stays key to building up a structure for finding an answer for a given issue. The perusing further features the requirement for an exact development of thoughts and vital methodologies towards composing, an idea that expands composing

The Plan for Building a Youth Ministry Research Paper - 2750 Words

The Plan for Building a Youth Ministry Research Paper (Research Paper Sample) Content: PLAN FOR BUILDING A YOUTH MINISTRYStudents nameCourse numberDate Christians are called to participate in the gospel of the cross. The Holy Spirit challenges us to partner fully with the mission and life of Jesus Christ and the church. The youth ministry plays an imperative role in this mission. The youth is integrated with the mainstream congregation and not separated. It is Christ-centered and nurtured through the study and proclamation of the word of Christ. The role of the youth ministry in equipping the young people to utilize their God-given talents and abilities and apply the same as faithful disciples of the Lord cannot be overemphasized. Thus, the youth ministry comprehends the young people in youth groups as forming part of the larger ministry and therefore integrating the young people with all the other age groups within the ministry of Jesus Christ. The book of 1 Corinthians 12: 12-26 talks about the unity and diversity of the Body. The body referred to in this case is the body of Christ translating into the church. The scripture provides the notion every part of the body has a different function, and this function is every unique to that part. The hand cannot take the role of the ear of hearing, and the ear cannot take over the function of the hand. This is the diversity mentioned in the verse. Every part of the body cannot act in isolation either, for it to be a body, all the parts have to operate in harmony so as to achieve congruence. The analogy from the scripture relates to the church, the body of Christ. All the different parts of the church are unique for the role played in the mission to spread the gospel to the rest of the world as mandated by God. The youth ministry strives to equip the young people in the ways of Christ while the Sunday school provides the foundation of Christ for the children. The mainstream ministry instills spiritual growth in the walk with Christ. However, these different aspects of the Church shou ld work in harmony to form what Christ referred to as the church. I chose to be involved in the youth ministry to be part of the universal body of Christ. By partaking to be part of the body of Jesus, I will be fulfilling the mandate to take the gospel worldwide and more so to the young people of our current generation. With the advent of technology and numerous innovation and creations today, everything seems right with the young generation even if it is not according to the Bible. Veering off the course that the word of the Lord channels is easier now more than ever, and the young people feel justified in their actions. A vibrant youth ministry led by young people cultured in the discipline of the scriptures and doctrine will certainly be of necessity to ensure we bring back our young people leaving the church. I chose to be part of this endeavor as I engage my mission of bringing back the youth to Church through my active participation in the youth ministry. The youth ministry is associated with different misconceptions derived from the base of the membership and the activities of these ministries. The expectations in the youth ministry by ministers, parents and the young people do not overlap presenting a challenge of the ineffectiveness of the ministry for the young people. Stereotypical perception of the youth ministers present another dissatisfaction of the ministry. The pastors are presumed to be young in both age and knowledge of the word of the Lord thus presented as not able to instill in the young men what mainstream minister can accomplish. The young pastors are however passionate and understand the dynamics of the challenges of the young people. Despite this passion for the Word of the Lord, the reputation of the youth ministry regarding theology is presented as not serious. The youth ministry at my local church understands the justification for the treatment as such and considerations of other aspects of the demerits will be evaluated to un derscore the importance of considering all the views and positions. With a background knowledge in the notions prescribed of the youth ministry, my plan entails identifying first of all such misconception of the young people in the church to ascertain barrier breaking plan to achieve an active ministry. The expectations of everyone in the church community regarding the youth ministry is streamlined by engaging the rational understanding of both parents, young people, and the ministers. I will make it clear to everyone that the church cannot exist without a vibrant youth ministry committed to the Word of the Lord and ensure the spiritual growth of the young people. I would challenge the church to make sure that the entire community understands that without the youth ministry, the church has no future. The Christian society as it stands at the moment underestimates what the youth ministry can accomplish in the mission of spreading the gospel as effectively as the mainstream ministry. Young people are not expected to rise to occasional challenges and therefore are rarely taught the doctrine and what the church believes. The implication of this perception translate to an ignorant generation that lacks understanding of the basic principles that the church is built upon. My plan for the youth ministry in this essence will regard engaging the church community to believe in the young people to undertake the spiritual challenge and trust the department with the spiritual custody of the young generation. Amongst the age group at the church, the older members of the youth ministry between twenty-five and thirty years will provide the guidance and undertake challenges for the group. Engaging young people in taking the gospel to the people out in the world will form part of the priority plan of the youth ministry. By undertaking such actions, the base principle of ensuring ignorance eradication and strengthening of the knowledge of Jesus amongst the young generation w ill propel the youth ministry further. The basic tenet is the instilling of the doctrine in the group. The young people should understand what the church believes in and strive to incorporate the young version of that value and vision within it. Holding regular meetings to underscore this value will enhance cohesion and increase participation as the young people will feel responsible for the mission of the gospel. Instilling the doctrine will however be according to the modern ways of embracing the word of the Lord. The feeling of being left out will not form part of the ministry perception due to the separation trends related with such feeling. By establishing different departments of the youth ministry and engaging the young people in their activities, the involvement will elucidate the understanding of the doctrine from the youth perspective. The ministry will focus on the activities that propel its core mission with harmony with other parts of the church. Distractive engagements will not form part of the ministry. The vision of the ministry must be unique to the people, and clarity of emphasis with regards to the objectives of the word of Christ in the group will drive the ministry. The euphoria associated with youth ministries that they are engaged in popularity contest elicits different drawbacks to the young population. By ensuring that the ministry does not overshadow the mainstream ministry of the church and engaging in the constant unification of the Church, my youth ministry will ensure no conflicts arise from the activities of the Church. Some ministers view youth ministry as a necessary bother, entertainers and not serious and in the process hire young people on such prospects without considering their theological backgrounds and doctrinal understanding of the Word. The youth ministry at my local church will understand the importance of this concern by ensuring that the young people incorporated into the ministry not only provide entertainment bu t spiritual growth to these young people. Training of the youth in the ministry between the ages of 25 to thirty in spiritual development and doctrines to engage the young people in exploring their spiritual abilities will ensure progress and commitment to the ministry. The evangelistic passion among youth pastors on many occasions drive the teaching and studying of theology neglected. Many youth pastors tend to consider that the young generation does not need doctrines but Jesus. This notion derives their engagement with young as relational and thus sidelining the core mandate of instilling the doctrines. My ministry understands that without the clear comprehension of the doctrine, many young people will not last in the church. Striving to ensure they are involved in doctrinal studies of the word by incorporating new technology in the theology teachings. Weekly doctrinal sermons among different groups more so the adolescent group of between sixteen years and twenty-three. Creati ng of departments of the youth ministry within the church will ensure the teachings are conveyed in comfortable groups of young people. Youth ministries around the world are perceived as fun while theology on the other end is viewed as not so fun. Therefore, the expectation of the church leaders, ministers, parents and the entire Church community expect a continuation of the ministry to be fun and not bore young people with doctrines and theology. It is perceived as the main reason why many young people are leaving the church today. By establishing a youth ministry, I will ensure both integration of the ministry with fun and theology. My emphasis will be on the fact that fun is not the goal of the ministry, but theology is, and thus the core mandate will engage the young people to understand the doctrines and having fun at the same time. The core purpose of my youth ministry will be to ensure that the ministry forms a vibrant part of the church. However, the ...

Running Head: BULLYING Bullying: A Social Issue That the School System Ignores â€Å"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no ones definition of your life, but define yourself†. – Harvey S. Firestone The Issue Strong, influential and cruel are just some of the words that come to mind when you hear the word bully. In American culture, bullying among children and teenagers has often been dismissed as a normal part of growing up. Little attention has been paid to the devastating effects of bullying, or to the connection between bullying and other forms of violence. Bullying in the American educational system is a significant social issue that it is steadily increasing. Many experts fear†¦show more content†¦Even more devastating than that is that many youth who are the victims of bullying have taken there own lives, children as young as seven have committed suicide because of constant bullying. Politically anti-bullying policies have been adapted by different local legislation but no national laws have been passed that would hold people suspected of bullying to any jail time. Currently bullying is only held as a form of harassment in many state courts, this is only enforced through documented harassment not hearsay. To fully address the problems that result from the emotional and sometimes physical obstacles faced by victims the schools must encourage children to report incidents of bullying and ensure students believe they will be helped. Censorship as it relates to what can and can not be entered on websites should be strictly enforced. Accountability on behalf of school officials that notice victims and perpetrators should also be strictly enforced. Educational institutions are perfect conduits for change because they have a captive audience to teach the basic human values of respect for self and others. The Effects Of Climate Change On Food Production - 1718 Words

The state in Australia most vulnerable to the effects of climate change is Queensland (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 23). Queensland has one of the world’s highest rates of greenhouse gas emissions per capita, which has only continued to increase over the last decade (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 23). The last decade was the warmest recorded in Queensland’s history, with temperatures being 0.58 degrees Celcius higher than the average for the past four decades (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 1). It is estimated that by 2050, temperatures will have risen an additional 1.0-2.2 degrees Celcius and rainfall will decrease up to seven percent (Queensland†¦show more content†¦Department of the Environment. The primary industries sector of Queensland is composed of cattle and milk, sheep and wool, poultry and eggs, pigs and other livestock, fruit, vegetables and nuts, hortic ulture, sugar cane, cotton, and other field crops, fisheries, and forestry and logging (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 60). Production from the primary industries is suggested to face a significant decline by 2030 due to â€Å"increased drought, reduced water resources and higher temperatures,† (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 61). The suggested impacts on the primary industries sector include: â€Å"warmer and drier weather in future decades over much of Queensland, more frequent droughts and drier conditions, increased frequency of severe weather events including flooding, which could also reduce primary and agricultural production through reduction in crop yields and through stock losses, and changes in average rainfall and temperatures, in seasonal distribution of rainfall and in rainfall variability, which directly affect crop production,† (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 60). Primar y producers are already feeling the effects of a decline in water available through rainfall and runoff, and the effects of changes in temperature are likely to be felt within the next ten years (Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence, 2010, page 61). Leadership and Organizational Dynamics for Shell Downstream

Question: Discuss about theLeadership and Organizational Dynamics for Shell Downstream. Answer: As an executive of Shell Downstream, I would try to take various types of financial assistance for the company. The right of the people must also be fulfilled and the people must also be allowed to control their own property. The process must be participatory and it must include various stakeholders. It is also necessary for me to monitor and track the progress and thus confirm whether the objectives are met. I must also ensure that the investment will continue to lay a positive impact on the local community of South Africa. It is also essential that there is sustainability in providing the required energy for the growing population of the country and their safety. It is also necessary for the company to deliver the energy safely and to protect the environment. This will help in protecting the contractors, employees and the local communities. The radical economic transformation will also turn the investors of the company (Yulk 2005). Shell Downstream is trying critically to achieve r adical economic transformation. As an executive of the company, it is my responsibility to entrench the overall policy of the government and plan the key challenges of industrial and economic growth. This will help in the removal of poverty, unemployment and inequality among the people. This is important for the inclusive growth of South Africa. There must be new initiatives which are regarded as part of the various concentrated efforts and this is necessary to shift the productive base of the economy for the creation of decent and sustainable jobs. Importance of Symbols in “the Thing in the Forest” free essay sample

Through figurative language we are shown that the main characters, Penny and Primrose, are dealing with more than just a creature in the forest, and that with this use of symbols as a way to express a larger meaning to objects in the story, we better understand how Penny and Primrose are dealing with being away from their family during a time of war in England. In this story we are exposed to the horrors of war during World War II in rural England. The two main characters, Penny and Primrose, are sent away from their homes in London during the time when Germany was bombing the major metropolitan areas of England. We find out early that the girls do not know each other but quickly form a bond that will help them work though the experiences that that are thrown at them. They arrive at the safe house in the country before they are sent to another family’s homes. During this in between time, the girls venture into the forest near the house and believe that they come across a thing moving through the forest. This experience stays with both of them for the rest of their lives and both have their own way of dealing with what they think they saw. To get a better understanding of the girls experience away from home, Byatt uses many forms of figurative language to convey underlying messages or events that happen especially in the forest. The most prominent types of figurative language are the use of symbols. By making the â€Å"thing† have the smells and look of war mashed together, not only the visual we are left, but also what the â€Å"thing† means to the girls and to the story, makes it harder to figure out if the girls were actually seeing something. Each of the different characters and settings really do have more meanings than what can be seen at the surface. With the use of symbols, Byatt can make reference to problems with the girls or make a comment on the larger picture of war at the time. The three largest symbols that appear in the story are the mansion, the forest, and of course, the thing in the forest. Each symbol represents something bigger in the whole scheme of things. The mansion that the girls are first sent to is a cold and dreary place to the children. Byatt describes the mansion as cold and dark. This is because of war time in England and they are tying to not be obvious. This dreariness only helps the symbol of the mansion to represent what is going on at that time. The house is a representation of the â€Å"State. † That being the government and everything that is part of the security it provides. There is a sense of security in a way that the mansion is used. The government commandeered the mansion for use as a safe house, although there still is a feeling of doubt about it. To the girls and other children, the mansion is a place of security or home until they move on. This is most likely not what the girls had in mind when they arrived. For them to feel any sort of comfort in this time of tragedy, they will need to stick together and make the best of the situation. The girls seemed to be thinking the worst of every event but at the mansion, things were taken care of to the best of the ability of the adults there to care for them. Unlike the mansion, the forest in the story has a great deal of uncertainty associated with it. When the girls venture into the forest they discover a different world just on the other side of the fence next to the mansion. While the boys of the group were playing soccer not far from where the girls were, Penny and Primrose were having a much different experience. In Byatt’s use of language to describe the forest, we as readers get a very clear picture of the actual forest. When the girls get into the forest, Byatt describes it as, â€Å"Dark and light came and went, inviting the mysterious, as the wind pushed clouds across the face of the sun. (Byatt, 228) As it is in other stories, the forest represents nature or the unknown. To the girls, it really is an adventure for them when they are confronted by a peculiar smell. Byatt uses many similes to describe what the girls saw. Byatt describes the things head, â€Å"†¦like a rubbery or fleshy mask over a shapeless sprouting bulb of a head, like a monstrous turnup. †(Byatt, 228) With this type of descriptive la nguage we can get a somewhat clearer picture of what the little girls were seeing. This is vitally important because after reading the story we are still unsure if the thing even ever existed. We get a sense that it is something more than this massive creature making its way though the forest. Like the forest and the mansion, the â€Å"thing† represents something much bigger than what we see at face value. The â€Å"thing† is most likely the most important symbol in the short story. This symbol can come to represent the worms that are popular in English folklore, as well as the war that Europe is battling with at the time, or also the girls own internal conflict with being sent away to a strange place and with no one they knew, at a time of war. When the creature passes by the girls, Byatt describes it, â€Å"They thought it could not see, or certainly couldn’t not see clearly, It and its stench passed within a few feet of their tree trunk, humping along, leaving behind it a trail of bloody slime and dead foliage. † (Byatt, 229) By having the creature pass by Penny and Primrose so closely, Byatt turns the symbol of the creature into an even more personal symbol for the girls. These different descriptions are all put together to form this smelly, hideous creature that has been making its way though the forest at that time. The girls are petrified of the creature and they have every right to. It is a horrible thing to have to experience war and loneliness at the same time. To enhance the reader’s experience, Byatt overlaps the symbols to deepen the story and tie the elements together by making the â€Å"thing† a creature that is hard to comprehend in our minds. She gives us the sense that what the girls think they see and that the creature is making its way though the forest, but at the same time confuses the reader by having the girls seem unsure of what they saw. This dilemma comes back later in the story, when both girls come back to the forest looking for what they saw when they were children. Without the thing in the forest, we would be left with a story of two girls who never really see the horrors of war and live happily ever after. This is not the case. What we do have is a story that may not come right out and show the horribleness of war and the effects that it has on humans. Both girls grow up dealing with the struggles of seeing that creature in the forest.

Jennifer Lopez Essay Example

Jennifer Lopez Essay For this essay the writter is going to write about two adverts, Advertising the perfumes Anais Anais by cacharel of Paris and GLOW by celebrity Jennifer Lopez. In this piece of writing the writer will use different examples to explain certain techniques used in these adverts. In this case the writer has chosen to do two adverts advertising two very successful perfumes. The first of these perfume adverts is going to be Anais Anais by cacharel of Paris and the second of these perfume adverts is going to be GLOW by famous celebrity Jennifer Lopez. Many advertisers use adverts to persuade certain people such as us to buy their gorgeous smelling perfumes. The aim of this piece of writing is to demonstrate how the writer understands or relates to the adverts and how they feel when they see these adverts, As the writer can relate to these two very interesting adverts, They will not be challenged in many ways, To use different examples to show us the difference between these two very sophisticated paper adverts. The main purpose of this essay is for the writer to show their understanding of the advertising media, and to achieve a high standard of examples. We will write a custom essay sample on Jennifer Lopez specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Jennifer Lopez specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Jennifer Lopez specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer I am now going to describe the first advert that is advertising the perfume Anais Anais by cacharel of Paris. I have chosen this advert because the meanings of the words used are very cleverly used and the picture is also quite clever, The words are and tenderness will move the world and the picture is of a very beautiful young lady who has got a very natural, elegant, calming and tender look. It has also got a picture of the perfume which is quite simple yet very attracting, the colours on the bottle are pink which denotes blossom or care, green which denotes nature or environment and white which denotes clean and cleanliness, with a tiny hint of silver which denotes sparkle and shine. So this advert is very simple but nice and very attractive as it says that the perfume is tender and gentle and that its tenderness will move the world. I am now going on to describe the second advert that is also advertising a perfume that is GLOW by Jennifer Lopez who is a very famous singer and actress. I chose to do this advert because it was very appealing and it also smells very sensual. The advert is very interesting as many women would like to be Jennifer Lopez this is why the advert would be very appealing to women as this is the perfume that Jennifer Lopez wears. The colours in this advert are mainly shades of gold as this is a colour of wealth and prosperity and the colour denotes the natural goodness. The main picture in this advertisement is of Jennifer Lopez who has no clothes on but is covered in sheer gold fabric or material, At the side of the advert is a picture of the perfume bottle whish has a very extravagant look which is meant in a way to be the shape of a womans body in theory. Where as the words are very different and quite bold and up front and this describes what the perfume is about, the words are Fresh-Sexy-Clean its the GLOW this is a type of slogan as it is quite catchy and it tells u what the product is about in a way. GLOW has been targeted to the younger women aged between 13-20 this is because Jennifer Lopez is a beautiful young lady who has many male admirers so the advert is going out to young women who would like to be admired by there fellow boyfriends or males they like. Whereas Anais Anais is a more shuttle fragrance which is targeted more towards the mature, civilized lady of our day, but necessary anyone who has a good taste in perfume would buy any of these as I brought Anais Anais and I am only 15. The target audience for Anais Anais would be of ages between 21-30 who are a lot more mature than teenagers who would buy GLOW by J-lo (Jennifer Lopez). So the main difference between the two adverts is that one is targeted to a young hyper, sassy, sexy, loud, energetic, beautiful young lady which is the fragrance GLOW and this would attract many young men or boys to the young sexy, sassy, nice scented lady, whereas the other is targeted to a more mature woman who has a very sophisticated, elegant, superior feeling or moods towards her or them rather than the sassy, wild, feeling round a younger sexy female, such as myself, So the perfume for the more mature lady would obviously be Anais Anais. In my next section of writing I will be writing about what I am going to talk about, which is how different advertisers use different colours, visual images and words (language) to persuade consumers to buy the products, I am now going to start with the colours in the advert for the fragrance Anais Anais, the colours in this advert are sensual colours that have a very tender feeling towards the, these colours are mainly pastel shades such as pinks, greens, creams, blues, browns, whites and pale yellows which are very natural , although there is a tiny hint of silver and black on the bottle of the fragrance.

The Importance of Writer Self-Education

The Importance of Writer Self-Education You know that joke, â€Å"The actress was so dumb she slept with the writer†? Why is that funny? Because the writer is always the lowest person on the totem pole. And there are reasons for that. It would never occur to somebody to practice law without learning the law or to put out a shingle as a plumber without ever having apprenticed, but for some reason many writers think they can just have an idea, write it, and sell it, without learning anything about how publishing works. My areas are fiction, journalism, nonfiction, and playwriting. I’ve published two novels and I edit and develop nonfiction with writers and publishers. Here’s some broad-stroke advice from these areas: = A professional text matters! It matters that a book read well, have proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. It matters that you follow the Chicago Manual of Style (for books and magazines). Or proper film or TV format. Or AP style for newspapers and journals that require it. = Learn the lingo. For instance, â€Å"a fiction novel† is redundant; a novel is always fiction. = If you are writing nonfiction and presenting yourself as an expert, you should be an expert. That means you’ve published on the topic, you work professionally in your area or you teach the topic, you have academic credentials in the topic, you have undergone training where you were evaluated = If you can’t afford a professional edit for your book, read Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition. Actually READ it. It will not only tell you rules and lingo, but it offers a pretty good course in publishing. = Read all the articles in Writer’s Market. Learn about how to present work, rights, and contracts. = Understand that being a writer is no longer enough. For book writing, writers are expected to have a â€Å"platform† - expertise, ties to the readers of their work, the ability to present and sell. Andrew Jackson, The United States President of the Common Man

Andrew Jackson, The United States President of the Common Man Andrew Jackson was the president of the common man because he greatly improved the economic aspect of life for white men during his presidency. However, some might argue that Jackson was not president of the common man because he continued to allow and encourage the mistreatment of marginalized groups like American Indians. Nevertheless, during his time as president, Jackson vetoed the renewal of the national bank, giving more power to the common man through state banks. In addition, he created the spoils system, giving less wealthy men the opportunity for government jobs, something very uncommon at the time. Jackson also extended the opportunity to vote to property owning white men as it became easier to buy property due to westward expansion. These changes made by Jackson created more economic opportunity and the potential for social climbing out of the lower class. The common, white man benefited greatly from Jackson, supporting the idea of him being the president for the common m an. Jackson eliminated the national bank, giving the state banks more power, benefitting the common man economically. When it came time to renew the charter for the National Bank, the president vetoed the renewal. Jackson believed the bank took money away from the common man as it was run by the wealthier portion of the population, looking to benefit themselves and not the majority of the population. The semi-private bank had investors coming from exclusively the richest class as few commoners could afford to invest in the bank. Jackson saw this consolidation of power in the wealthy as corrupt and dangerous for the common man, the bank and its investors wanted to make money, only benefitting a small fraction of the population (Document B). Shortly before the veto, Jackson withdrew money from the national bank and deposited the money into state banks, also known as â€Å"pet banks†. Pet banks were more apt to loan money to the lower class citizens that needed it, farmers in particu lar. Once Jackson decided to kill the national bank, declaring it unconstitutional (O’Donnell). This worked to the advantage of the commoners because they were able to take out loans as they needed them, controversially whether they could pay them back or not. Through employing people of lower classes in different federal jobs, it not only limited the amount of elites in power but also gave the lower class the chance to earn more money. On the road to Jackson’s presidency, he received help and support from many people and assured them that their support would not go without appreciation. Once Jackson was elected, he removed many elites from their positions in office, only to fill those jobs with the commoners that helped him achieve presidency. Jackson referred to this action as the Spoils System as he distributed his spoils of victory. (O’Donnell). Many of his supporters lacked education and money, as he appealed to the â€Å"common man†, attracting many farmers and other members of the lower class. However, Jackson believed the jobs were easy enough for the common man to carry out. By giving people from the lower class these jobs instead of those from the upper crust of society, he was giving them the chance to earn more money than they would as a farmer or even most merchants. This also provided the opportunity for them to move to a slightly higher social class because federal jobs were held to a much higher standard than most other jobs. The lives of many white men benefited economically and in some cases socially from the Spoils System. Some might argue that Jackson was not president of the common man because he continued to allow and prompt the terrible treatment of American Indians. By forcing them to leave Georgia and Michigan with the Indian removal act of 1830, the American Indians had no choice but to move to Oklahoma; they had no say in this matter. The trek that they made is famously known as the Trail of Tears. While the supreme court did not support Jackson’s decision, he continued with the plan anyways (O’Donnell). Although the American Indians were the group of people being directly affected by the Indian removal act, they did not have the right to vote on this matter or any affair until 1924. Jackson did not improve the quality of life of the American Indians by any standards, if anything, he contributed to the preexisting, unjust treatment they received. However, by obtaining the land in Georgia and Michigan, more white Americans were able to move there and be given an opportunity to own land, something that was difficult in places like the northeast, where land was not as easy to acquire. In many states, white men were allowed to vote if they owned land, and with this expansion, many â€Å"common men† throughout the United States were able to gain voting rights. While this privilege came at the expense of the American Indians homes and lives, Jackson did, in fact, improve the quality of life for what was considered to be the â€Å"common man†. Jackson’s changes to the U.S. during his presidency impacted many people but really only the common, white man profited from these changes. By liquidating the national bank, Jackson was able to put money into pet banks which greatly benefitted the lower class by allowing them to take out loans more frequently than they could have with the national bank. He further benefited the common man by supplying jobs to some of his supporters that helped him become president. By offering these jobs to people in a much lower class than the wealthy that used to hold those jobs, the common men had the chance to not only earn more money but to move to a slightly higher social class as well. Unfortunately, the American Indians did not gain nearly as much as many white men did from the Indian removal act. However, the vacant land provided the opportunities to vote to the common man. The changes made by Jackson that economically improved the lives of numerous common men support the theory that Andrew Jackson was the president of the common man.

Research, identify and discuss the 4 basic functions of management Essay

Research, identify and discuss the 4 basic functions of management. .Week TWO - Essay Example Having done a SWOT analysis, it can then proceed to making a more detailed strategic plan. An example of the planning stage is when a marketing manager designs a marketing plan in launching a new product. Wijesinghe enumerates various positive characteristics of planning such as being â€Å"goal-oriented, primacy, pervasive, flexible, continuous, involves choice, futuristic and involves mental exercise† (Wijesinghe, 2010, par 5). The second function of management is organizing. Organizing involves gathering all the resources of the company including the physical, human and financial resources. The tasks or activities that are needed to be done should be classified and assigned to the particular departments and individuals. Responsibilities are created and authorities delegated (Norman, n.d.). The organizing function of management is important because it encourages specialization, describes the work that must be done and by whom and it categorizes authority and command (Wijesinghe, 2010). Leading is the third management function. Under this function, the manager motivates and positively influences the employees so that they will be able to perform their tasks well. Managers should learn to communicate effectively with the employees to ensure that the company’s goals are achieved. Providing for monetary as well as non-monetary incentives may be necessary to influence and motivate the employees. Managers must be able to teach and assist the employees especially when they are faced with difficulties in performing their duties. The last function of management is controlling. Controlling involves â€Å"measuring achievement against established objectives and goals† (Norman, n.d., par 5). If there is any deviation from the achievement of the goals, the manager must identify the reason for the deviation and think of a way to correct it (Norman, n.d.). Monitoring and evaluating employee performance is a part

Kingston and Moraga Essay -- essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In their books â€Å"The Woman Warrior† and â€Å"Loving in the War Years,† Maxine Hong Kingston and Cherrie Moraga write about the persistence of social oppression. They also describe the dynamics of race, sexuality, and gender in everyday experience. Through reading these books I have picked up on several significant events which illustrate these issues. The correlation between these two authors is the importance placed upon these issues that seem to be underlying themes in both books. The persistence of social oppression is an obvious theme in Kingston’s â€Å"The Woman Warrior†. One can pickup on this from the first chapter quite easily. Through Kingston’s recount of the story her mother told her about her father’s sister we can see how cruelly women could be treated in China at that time. In this â€Å"talk-story† as her mother calls it, we learn that Kingston had an aunt who never left China. This aunt was shunned by her village and family for becoming pregnant by a man who was not her husband. The details surrounding this man and their relationship are shady and uncertain, however the villagers decide to ransack her home, slaughtering the family's livestock and destroying their crop. The relationship with this story and the theme of social oppression comes later in the chapter. We learn that after her home was destroyed, made outcast by her family, Kingston’s aunt crawls into the barn and gives birth to the child. She feeds the child and later carries it to ...

Organisational Change Essay

Organizational change is also known as organizational transformation and it may involves organisational change in mission, introducing new technology, restructuring operations, introducing new programmes, mergers, re-engineering and having new major collaborations. (Bridges 1991) Organizational changes are aimed at achieving some set organizational goals and objectives which need to be a attained within a given period of time. In many cases changes in the organizational are provoked by some outside forces which includes taking care of new markets, substantial cut in finding, need for increase in services and productivity among others. There are many approaches that managers uses to introduce change in the organization, some are planned, explicit and structured while others are more unfolding, implicit and organic. Managers goes for the approaches that will be supported by all the employees and those that will enable the organization to maximize the profit margin as they achieve the set goals and objectives within the set time frame. Some approaches works from the future to the present where by the managers uses the organization’s vision to plan all the organizational activities aiming at achieving the vision while other approaches works from the present to the future which may include pointing out the currents needs of the target clients and then making the necessary changes towards achieving those needs. This is the best approach since the clients and other stakeholders are the backbone of any organization and they determine the success of the any business (Easterby 1999). Identifying their needs should be a continuous exercise which should be followed by implementing the necessary changes which will facilitate in satisfying their needs hence building a good and strong customer relationship which will lead to increased sales hence increasing the Organizational profitability (Dent 1999).  Aegon UK  is a member of the AEGON Group which is among the world’s largest life insurance and pension company. The company is the owner of different life insurance, pensions, adviser and management businesses in the UK (Folger 1999). The company has 27,000 employees and a total of over 25 million customers worldwide with it’s main markets being in Netherlands and the United States. Factors That Lead To Change One of the major hindrance for decision making is a clear understanding of the working environment where the decisions made will be operated. (Brewster 2004) Proper understanding of the working environment improves the decision making and it minimizes uncertainty. In the UK where life expectancy has risen in the past few years, people are expected to retire for a longer period of time hence the need to think ahead and save for retirement, an idea that many people find difficult to comprehend. (Kotter 1979) Many people do not properly plan about their retirement hence they suffer during the old age since they do not be have enough money for survival and on the other hand the government is also emphasizing on reduced dependency on the state in old age. This resulted to many insurance companies coming up with new cheap pension schemes who also emphasized on employee pension (Hultman 1995). The Industry Aegon operates in the life insurance and pension industry which for the past few years had a poor reputation. Some organisations in the industry has been blamed of mis-selling where by they do not give the customers quality products that satisfy their needs. (Johnston e 2004) The Financial Services Authority (FSA) introduced some regulations in the industry which were aimed at avoiding such situations from happening again in the future. The industry has been faced with intense competition where by AEGON is competing with other organisations that are well known in the UK and they specialise in selling directly to the customers (Kirkman 2000). The company normally distributes it’s services and products to customers through financial advisers. For AEGON to remain competitive it had to take care of all the problems that the industry was facing. Reasons For Change Historically AEGON had been very successful and profitable but some times back the government introduced some regulations that reduced the organisation’s profitability. Comparing the company with it’s competitors, AEGON was not well known though it had very good services and products and it also had good relationship with the distributors. (Strebel 1996) For consumers to have the confidence of investing in a long term product, they have to know more about the organisation they are planning to invest with by learning more about the brands that are being offered by the organisation and by understanding the value of each brand. As AEGON offered different brands it was hard for the financial advisers and the consumers to identify and understand the different depth and breadth of the brands. Facilitators of Change AEGON company appointed a new (CEO) Chief Executive Officer who entered into the office with new strategies for the company and the first thing that he implemented was to bring AEGON into a discovery phase which would help him in achieving the goals he had for AEGON. The CEO’s goal was to develop the best long term savings and protection business in the UK while the discovery phase was aimed at finding ways of achieving those goals. (Kegan 2001) Another aspect that needed consideration was the company’s brands and how they could be audited. The company was examined both internally and externally to find it’s position in the market. The process of auditing was aimed at giving more information about the company which assisted AEGON in making more informed decisions which were needed to start the process of change. Creating a New Culture Culture refers to the attitude and the personality of an organization and it is also involves the shared values, behavior and beliefs of the employees and other stakeholders (Morgan 1997). It acts as a key part in the change process since it dictates the way in which the organisation and the stakeholders solve problems and makes decision. By developing a new culture, AEGON was able to provide services and products that were required in the market hence they were able to remain competitive. A Behavior Framework In order to support the new culture, AEGON came up with a behavior framework which was aimed at strengthening the brand values. It was designed in such a way that it could influence how all the employees in the organisation could work and make decisions where by the behavior emphasized the values of AEGON. (Coetsee 1999) The company also introduced a Management Development Programme which emphasised on eight main behaviors which are, think customer, embrace change, encourage excellence, act with integrity, decisive actions, work together, learn and grow and finally relate and communicate (Piderit 2000). Implementing The Change The organisation has emphasised on the customer’s needs which determines the decisions, behaviour and it also informs actions. The senior mangers keeps the customer’s needs at the heart of all the operations in AEGON while the other managers and professionals innovates with the needs of the customers in mind so that they come up with products and services that can satisfy the needs of the customers. AEGON brand have been extensively promoted alongside Scottish Equitable or other brands are traded under it. Association with AEGON is stronger where by the Scottish Equitable is currently AEGON Scottish Equitable which reflects the local knowledge and the global power. Currently all the brands has a new look that is common, different and refreshing. Impacts Of The Changes Implementing change in AEGON affected it both externally and internally. Internally the changes influenced how the people behaved and communicated while the organisational operations has been focused on satisfying the needs of the customers. Great emphasis has been on making information clearer so that the customers can be in a position to understand the company well so that they can do business with them. The company has intensively done external promotional campaigns and it has managed to launch new innovative products aimed at satisfying the customer’s needs. This changes has worked very well for AEGON since the company has been able to maximise it’s profit. Currently AGEON brand is in a position that it influences the financial services in the industry. Challenges The main challenge that AEGON is facing is that the competition is growing at a very fast rate in an increasingly difficult market. This has forced the government to implement some regulations to govern the industry. To fight competition, AEGON should maintain two way communication channel which should be open and they should emphasis on getting feedback from all the stakeholders. This feedback is very important since the stakeholders can inform the organisation where they might be going wrong and can even give some recommendations which can work very well for the company hence being ahead of the competitors which leads to maximising the profit margins of the company. The stakeholders can also help the company in identifying the needs of the customers hence enabling the company to provide what is needed in the market . Also when there is open communication between the management and the employees it is normally very easy to prevent conflicts since the employees will be free to air their grivances hence cultivating a culture of good working relationships in AEGON which will even motivate the workers to work even harder thus enabling the company to realize the set goals and objectives within the set time frame. Conclusion Organisational change is continuous and the process of change is like a journey which will be faced by external factors that can affect the operations of the organisation. AEGON respond to the external factors was by clarifying, simplifying and strengthening it’s brand in the UK. As the organisation changes, it’s culture and pattern of behavior develops which is a cycle which requires the business to use the knowledge it has to learn from the experiences. This has enabled AEGON to move towards achieving its goals through realizing its full potential while they remain competitive in the market. Taking care of the needs of the customers increases the sales of the company since many customers will be interested in the products or services that are being provided by the company hence increasing sales which in turn increases the profit margin of the company.
